At the beginning of COVID-19, there was a huge fear that stores would run out of supplies or whether it was even safe to go grocery shopping. Many turned to online grocery shopping except one group was left behind – the elderly. Recognizing this, the grocery store, Lidl, knew they wanted to help. Within a week, my team and I created a system for Lidl to take orders via phone and deliver to retirement homes. In the end, we made delivering groceries to the elderly possible in the VA Beach/Norfolk area with no delivery fees or extra costs.
